So You Want to Work in Food: Food Jobs Beyond Restaurants

  • The Holding Co., Stage 2 104 Robinson Street Los Angeles, CA, 90026 United States (map)

While the San Francisco Cooking School provides students with a restaurant-focused education, an unplanned but equally strong path has emerged since the school opened: grooming cooks for culinary-focused careers beyond restaurant walls. From recipe development jobs at start-up meal-kit companies to daytime cooking gigs at corporate cafeterias & test kitchens (like Google, Williams-Sonoma, etc.) to food stylist opportunities, the landscape is wide, diverse, and especially varied on the west coast.  But how can you find out what opportunities exist or how best to pursue them? Speakers: Jodi Liano (San Francisco Cooking School), Antonio Diaz (Life & Thyme),
Amanda Frederickson (Freelance Stylist/Recipe Developer), Ellen Bennett (Hedley & Bennett)
